Rochester Malls Say “Shop Early,” Extend Hours Starting Next Week
Rochester, NY – November 13, 2020–The Marketplace Mall, Eastview and The Mall at Greece Ridge will extend operating hours starting November 16 to 10am-9pm Monday-Saturday with Sunday hours remaining 11am-6pm. Hours will extend slightly with earlier open and close times around Thanksgiving weekend and leading up to the Christmas holiday.
The change in hours will help accommodate store requests and keeps consistent with what other mall developers are doing in our area and across the country. The adjusted hours will also allow customers the chance to shop at more convenient times throughout the day and week.
“The majority of retailers are offering sales and promotions for several days versus just one or two days this season, and the sales have already started” said Wendy Roche, Marketing Director at Eastview Mall. “This will benefit shoppers who wish to come earlier in the week versus waiting for traditionally busier weekend days. Stores have excellent inventory and shoppers appreciate being able to get their holiday shopping started now.”
On Black Friday the malls will operate from 8am-9pm. All mall stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
Some holiday tips to make your shopping experience more comfortable.
- Start your shopping today! Not only is the best inventory and sales going on now but we are encouraging shoppers to visit early in the season to limit the crowds.
- Give yourself plenty of extra time. The mall is a big place so we encourage shoppers to spread out and when an area looks busy, come back or use another route. Also, some stores are still limiting the number of shoppers at a time so leave time to wait in line or come back.
- Shop at off peak hours to avoid crowds by visiting mid-week, during the day, or early morning.
- Take advantage of the hand sanitizers, wear a mask and social distance. The malls are cleaning and disinfecting continually and ask shoppers to do their part.
The malls have the highest grade air filters and HVAC system, above what is being used in big box stores, grocery stores and most offices.
Santa will be at each mall December 4-24. This year Cherry Hill, the company that brings Santa to the malls, is encouraging guests to make a reservation in advance in order to keep lines to a minimum and to keep the experience as touchless as possible. Children will be able to visit with Santa from a six-foot distance, and Santa will be wearing a mask.
